AltraVia is another way to reach the sea
A new path, on foot or by mountain bike, which goes from Turin to Savona.
It shares some stretches and connects with the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, in order to allow you to extend the experience and discover Liguria as a land of mountains and not just of the sea.
Nine stages (five by bike). 200 kilometers, crossing 50 municipalities, 4 provinces, 2 regions.
Each stage is very different from the previous one, full of surprises and discoveries, uniting, traveling slowly, heterogeneous territories: famous cities and towns with unknown villages, areas with crops and impervious woods from which world excellence are obtained, often unknown even to the locals. It passes through cities such as Turin, Alba, Savona, historic villages such as San Damiano d'Asti and Millesimo, UNESCO heritage territories such as Monferrato and Langhe, yet for many stretches it will seem to enter another dimension, made up of places and of ancient times, swallowed up by a landscape and a nature that will surprise us, even if we are native or regular visitors of these lands.
The length of the stages is between 20 and 25 kilometers. There are no very challenging gradients, although some physical training and orientation skills are required. The stages as described are not "mandatory": everyone can adapt them to their needs. AltraVia is not yet an officially recognized itinerary, although the procedures are being followed for it to become one. On the site you will find gps tracks and geo-localized maps, as well as a whole series of useful information. Available in bookshops and online the official guide, published by Morellini.
